  TASTE OF WESTERN AUSTRALIA

TASTE OF WESTERN AUSTRALIA - World class produce and producers

After experiencing a period of unprecedented economic growth, Western Australia is now facing a challenging national and global business environment. However, the quality of its people and natural resources provide the State’s food industry with marvellous development opportunities.

Underpinning this development is the access restaurants and food manufacturers have to the State’s abundance of safe, nutritious and often world class natural produce.

This allows innovative local chefs and companies to transform this amazing produce into high quality food and beverage products that satisfy local and export markets. These are consumers looking for new brands and products that can stimulate their sophisticated palates and yet also be trusted to increasingly deliver health and wellness benefits.

The ‘food experience’ in Western Australia is phenomenally diverse – one can enjoy the highest quality meat, gourmet regional delicacies, outstanding seafood and world-class wine. Locals and visitors can experience these on a beach, in the forest, in 5 star restaurants or from their local store.

The Western Australian Government is committed to raising the profile of agriculture and food industries and ensuring we produce food for the world in a profitable and sustainable manner.

Through food, we are also increasingly putting Western Australia on the global stage, with the flow on benefits of the food industry into many other sectors within the Western Australian economy.

With the abundance of fresh produce, the absence of many pests and diseases and our close proximity to highly populated and growing markets in the Middle East, South East and North Asia, the opportunities are limited only by the vision we have to identify them and our determination to seize and develop them.

I encourage you to “Taste Western Australia” and further explore these opportunities.

Hon Terry Redman MLA
Minister for Agriculture and Food
